Tatiana Convallaria
Tatiana Convallaria needs no introduction among those familiar with the shining stars of modern art. Gifted from the time she was a small child with the ability to see what others wouldn’t, Tatiana has always striven to translate the oplulescent technicolor vividity of her experience for those around her. After graduating summa cum laude from Savannah College Art of Design with her MFA, Tatiana undertook a two year vision quest into the Appalachian wilderness, eventually landing at the Numina butterfly preserve; an experience which would forever shape her life and art. Re-emerging from the heart of nature, Tatiana’s next series, Antennae, took the art world by storm and was met with rave reviews in Frieze.com and Whitehot Magazine.
“Everything about art is about transformation. The artist is transformed by the work, the viewer is transformed by the vision, and the artist is transformed once again by the experience of the viewer. We are creatures of the only constant: change.”
Tatiana was delighted to be invited as a founding member of Thousand Paper Cuts, and thoroughly enjoys her role in leading the Summer Retreat each year. She brings a Dionysian enthusiasm to the institute and her passion is contagious, lending many of our attendees the bravery and insight they needed to break out of their own mold and…transform.
Tatiana considers Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, Tristan Tzara, Anais Nin, and Maurice Ravel among her influences .
